After “how much does it cost”, this is probably the question I hear most at our Golf Course Road clinic. The honest answer is that it depends on two things: what we’re fixing, and you. Here’s how I explain it to patients sitting in my chair.
Roughly how long does Invisalign take?
For small corrections, like mild crowding in the lower front teeth or a gap that has opened up, treatment can be as short as around six months. Most full cases, where we straighten both arches and correct the bite as well, take somewhere around a year to a year and a half. More complex bites can take longer.
I don’t like guessing before I’ve seen your teeth properly. Once we take a 3D scan, the treatment plan shows exactly how many aligner stages you need, and that’s when I can give you a realistic timeline.
Why does one person’s treatment take longer than another’s?
Mostly it comes down to how far the teeth need to move and whether the bite needs correcting too. Straightening a few front teeth is quick. Moving back teeth, closing big gaps or fixing an overbite simply needs more stages.
The other big factor is how consistently the aligners are worn. Some people also need a few refinement aligners at the end to perfect the last details, which can add a few weeks.
How many hours a day do I really need to wear the aligners?
Twenty to twenty-two hours a day. They come out when you eat or drink anything other than plain water, you brush, and they go straight back in.
This is the part that’s in your hands. Aligners only move teeth while they’re in your mouth, so if they spend half the day in their case, the plan falls behind and treatment drags on. Patients who build the habit in the first two weeks usually finish on time.
Is Invisalign faster than braces?
For many mild to moderate cases it’s similar, and sometimes a little quicker. It isn’t magic though. Teeth move at a biological pace whichever system pushes them. For some complex bites, braces are still the more efficient tool, and I’ll tell you honestly if that’s the case for you.
What happens when the aligners finish?
We check the result, and if a tooth or two needs fine-tuning we order a short set of refinement aligners. After that you move on to retainers. Teeth have a natural tendency to drift back, so wearing a retainer at night is what protects the result for years.
If you’d like a realistic timeline for your own teeth, the first step is a consultation and 3D scan at our clinic on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon or in Defence Colony, Delhi. You can read more about Invisalign at Nanda Dental Clinic, or message us on WhatsApp at +91 98219 58877.
