How long braces take

Most braces treatment takes somewhere between one and two years. Simple crowding can be quicker; bite correction, impacted teeth or treatment combined with jaw growth in children usually takes longer. You will get your own estimate at the consultation, after Dr. Smriti has examined your teeth and taken a digital scan.

Braces are often the better choice for complex bites, for younger children, and for anyone who knows they won’t wear aligners consistently. See Invisalign cost in Gurgaon for the aligner option.

Living with braces

  • Teeth feel sore for a few days after fitting and after each adjustment. Soft food and regular painkillers usually help.
  • Avoid hard and sticky foods, which break brackets.
  • Brush carefully around every bracket. Plaque left around brackets can leave white marks on the teeth.
  • Check-ups are usually every four to eight weeks.
  • When the braces come off, you will need retainers to stop the teeth moving back. A bonded retainer usually costs ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 per arch.

Risks to know about

Braces are safe for most people, but they are not risk-free. Poor cleaning can cause decay and white spots, some teeth can show small amounts of root shortening, and teeth will drift back without retainers. Dr. Smriti will explain what applies to you before treatment starts.
