If you’ve searched for clear aligners in Delhi or Gurgaon, you’ve probably seen prices that range from a few tens of thousands of rupees to a few lakh. It’s a fair question: they’re all clear plastic trays, so why the difference? Here’s how I explain the difference.
Are cheaper aligners the same as Invisalign?
No, though they look similar. The plastic tray is the smallest part of the cost. What you’re really paying for is the planning, the material, and the supervision while your teeth move. Invisalign uses its own SmartTrack material and planning software built on a very large number of treated cases. Many lower-cost brands use generic plastic and simpler planning. That doesn’t make every cheaper aligner bad, but it does mean they’re not interchangeable.
Who plans the treatment?
This is the question that matters most. With many direct-to-consumer aligner companies, your plan is made remotely from a scan or photos, and you may rarely, or never, see an orthodontist in person. With orthodontist-led Invisalign, a specialist examines your bite, gums and X-rays, then designs every tooth movement and checks your progress at each visit. Teeth sit in bone and gum. Moving them without checking those is where problems such as gum recession, bite changes or relapse begin.
Which cases do low-cost aligners handle well?
Mild cases: small gaps, slight crowding of the front teeth, or minor relapse after old braces. Even then, I’d want an in-person check first to rule out gum disease, decay or a bite problem hiding behind the crooked teeth.
When is an orthodontist-planned approach worth the extra cost?
When there’s moderate or severe crowding, a deep bite, open bite or crossbite, teeth that need rotating or moving up or down, a narrow jaw, or a history of gum problems. Those movements need attachments, staged planning and, sometimes, elastics. That’s where the difference in result shows.
What does Invisalign cost in Gurgaon and Delhi?
At our clinics Invisalign usually costs between ₹1.5 and ₹3 lakh, depending on how complex your case is. The exact figure is confirmed after a 3D iTero scan, when we can see how many aligners you’ll need. When you compare quotes anywhere, check that refinement aligners, retainers and follow-up visits are included.
How should you decide?
Get a proper examination first, whichever route you choose. A scan and an orthodontic opinion will tell you whether your case is simple enough for a basic option, or whether it needs specialist planning.
