“I had braces as a teenager and now my front teeth are crooked again.” It’s one of the most common things adults tell me. If it’s happened to you, it’s not your fault and it’s very fixable.
Why do teeth move back after braces?
Teeth keep a gentle tendency to drift for the rest of your life. The fibres around them have a kind of memory, and the forces from chewing, the tongue and normal ageing keep nudging them. Most relapse happens because retainers were stopped after a year or two, which used to be common advice. The lower front teeth are usually the first to crowd again.
Can Invisalign fix teeth that moved after braces?
In most cases, yes, and it’s one of the situations aligners handle best. The movements are usually small, so treatment is often shorter than the original braces, and most adults would rather not go back to brackets and wires.
How long and how much would it take?

How do I stop it happening again?
Retainers, for the long term. That can be a thin wire bonded behind the front teeth, a clear removable retainer worn at night, or both. The honest advice now is that retainers are for life, at least a few nights a week. It’s a small habit that protects the result.
